Keyboard shortcuts
Every key that does something in Tapeboard, and how to change the ones you can rebind. On Windows and Linux, read ⌘ as Ctrl.
Shortcuts save clicks on the pages you use all day. They never fire while you are typing in a box. On Windows and Linux, use Ctrl wherever this page says ⌘.

How to see the shortcuts for the page you are on
- Press Shift + / (the ? key) on any page.
- Read the Global list. Pages that have their own keys add a This Page list underneath.
- Press Esc to close it.
On the Scanner, ? also opens the scanner's own key list.
Shortcuts that work on every page
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| ⌘K | Opens the command palette |
| ⌘1 | Dashboard |
| ⌘2 | Scanner |
| ⌘3 | Charts |
| ⌘4 | AI research, on the last ticker you looked at |
| ⌘5 | Economic |
| ⌘6 | Simulator |
| ⌘7 | Journal |
| ⌘/ | Opens the feedback sheet |
| ? | Shortcuts sheet |

Shortcuts on the Scanner
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| Tab | Moves focus to the next panel (Workspace view) |
| ↑ / ↓ | Moves the highlighted row |
| Enter | Opens the highlighted ticker on Charts |
| Space | Pauses or resumes the live feed |
| M | Mutes or unmutes scanner sounds |
| W | Adds the highlighted ticker to your watchlist |
| A | Opens AI research for the ticker |

| Esc | Clears the focus or closes the chart |
In the default Workspace view, 1, 5 and D enlarge the 1-minute, 5-minute and daily chart. In Scanner Only view, 1 to 9 set the chart timeframe once a ticker is selected (1m, 5m, 15m, 30m, 1h, 4h, daily, weekly, monthly), F toggles full screen and C opens Charts. Ctrl + 1 to Ctrl + 9 focus a panel by number.
Shortcuts on the Simulator
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| B | Buy at market |
| S | Sell at market, or short if you hold no shares |
| C | Cover a short |
| F | Close the position in the selected ticker |
| Shift + F | Close every open position |
| Esc or Shift + C | Cancel all pending orders |
| + / - | Raise or lower the order size by 100 |
| [ / ] | Sell half, or add half, of the position |
How to change a shortcut
- Open Settings and choose the Notifications tab.
- Scroll to the Hotkeys card.
- Click the shortcut you want to change. The row waits for a key.
- Press the new key or key combination. Press Esc to cancel.
- Click Reset Defaults to undo all your changes.
Changes save on their own. You can rebind the scanner keys: audio mute, pause, previous and next preset, and the help key.
Good to know
- Custom shortcuts are stored in this browser only. They do not follow you to another computer.
- Tapeboard does not warn you if two shortcuts share a key. Pick keys nothing else uses.
- On the Scanner, ⌘1 to ⌘5 are also the keys for loading saved layouts 1 to 5, and they share a key with the page jumps above. If the page jump gets in the way, rebind the layout keys in the Hotkeys card.
- Shortcuts for chart drawing and indicators are on the Charts page.
If something doesn't work
- A key does nothing: click the empty part of the page first. Shortcuts pause while your cursor is in a text box.
- Shift + / does not open the sheet: some keyboard layouts put ? elsewhere. Press whichever key types a question mark.
- Pop Out Panel or Clear Drawings does nothing: the Hotkeys card lists them (P and Shift + X), but they are not active yet. Open a panel in its own window with the pop-out icon on the panel header instead. See Make Tapeboard yours.
